In short…failure is your friend not the end.
Okay that was cheesy. But seriously it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to the human race since Dinosaurs and JK Rowling.
Failure is necessary, normal, and beneficial.
It is how we learn, grow, and level up in life.
So why are we so scared of it???
Because we were raised to fear it.
When we were little – like baby little; failure was not a big deal.
When you fell down or said some jumbled word everybody laughed and encouraged you and life was good.
Failure is just a part of the process.
Then fear happens.
Parents get scared they are going to fail and so they transfer that pressure to kids and the school system fears failing and so they pressure kids to learn the same way at the same time.. OR ELSE!
And over the years we learn to avoid failure for fear of punishment, shame, embarrassment, and loss of love.
We associate failure with rejection which kicks off our stress response which inhibits our creativity and sabotages our productivity and BAM! you’ve got an adult who can’t finish things, commit to relationships, or enjoy new experiences because they are so worried about fitting in.
In this series we look at three simple but powerful steps to overcoming our fear of failure so that we can live the life we deserve.
And I film all over the beautiful Hawaii, swinging from Tarzan vines, swimming in waterfalls, and getting washed away by North Shore swells.
Enjoy!
Lovin´this words! TY Kelsey, you´re so right. I have all this advance information about myself but never try to do anything more than lists. Lists about what I wanna do, the things i must´ve to do, etc AND NEVER STAND UP AND DO THE FIRST STEP (AGAIN). I get confortable w/your words and will put action w/them. Sadly I´m always theory and bever praxis…… I HAVE TO PUT ACTION. In your words i found myself, looks like you wrote about me and my days. What happen w/me? Feels like a queen but always put action like a slave to the world (my sister, parents, gilrfriend, her family). Deeply sadly: I always have an EXCUSE. i WILL READ THIS WORDS EVERYTIME I HAVE TO: START LOOKING FOR ME AND NOT FOR THE REST BEFORE ME. 😀
Thanks for sharing! It is hard to take those first steps. What is your first step going to be?
